In April 2018 EnDev/GIZ will install 100 new solar suitcases in health facilities in Liberia for the Ministry of Health. The solar suitcases are portable power units developed from We Care Solar for the health sector to improve the working conditions for the staff and the quality of the health care (lightening births and surgical procedures, etc.).
In 18 communities in the Buu – Yao Administrative District, schools received solar systems for lights provided by the Energising Development Program (EnDev-Liberia) implemented through the German Development Cooperation GIZ. Many of the local farmers working in the cocoa sector do not know how to read or write. They had shown their strong interest in the literacy program that had first received mobile solar lamps.
The Energising Development Program (EnDev) provides solar lights for the purpose of evening adult literacy classes in Nimba County.
Eighteen communities in the Buu – Yao Administrative District are benefiting from the solar-powered lights.
The literacy classes are an opportunity to take the first leap in the education of beneficiaries whose education was interrupted by the civil war.
