Renewables Liberia, the new web platform for Liberia, was launched Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Ministry of Information, Culture & Tourism in Monrovia by its Minister jointly with the Head of RREA and Representatives of the Ministry of Energy, EPA and other Ministries and a big audience.

The web platform serves as a portal for background information about renewable energies technologies, programs, activities. Moreover, it publishes latest news, information, job opportunities and contact information for networking in Liberia's renewable energy sector. Renewable energies will slowly renew the country.

Stephen Mulbah and Gaijouhn Gaybueh from GIZ/EnDev presented the web portal and its maps that allow users to find installations, see and analyse various data on renewable energy projects throughout Liberia. Information and communication technology (ICT) allows to collect, analyse and exchange facts and experiences. The web portal is part of the ultramodern ICT4Renewables Toolbox that combines smartphone apps, mapping tools, social media (facebook, twitter, youtube).

Around 80 people had gathered for this official launching and many were thrilled by what they saw. Various people in the audience asked questions to better understand the details, others lauded this new web portal for enabling them to better access and share information.

The Minister of Information declared the web portal for officially opened. Representatives for the web platform’s supporting institutions including GIZ/EnDev, the Rural and Renewable Energy Agency (Augustus Goanue, Director RREA), the Ministry of Land, Mines and Energy, EPA, Plan, Mercy Corps a.o. delivered remarks and stressed the urgency of enhancing the renewable energy sector to foster development.
