The Energizing Development Program Liberia hosted a month of training workshops in SMA solar power systems. The program promotes sustainable access to modern energy services that meet the needs of the poor in a long-lasting, affordable, environmental and user-friendly way.
EnDev German Advisor Johannes Weber served as the lead trainer for the SMA Solar workshop alongside the EnDev Liberia technical national team, Mr. Freeman K. Godu, Momo Torkson, Korvah L. Mulbah and Gaijouhn Gaybueh.
This workshop, held at the GIZ/EnDev office, brought together over 15 solar technicians, students from the University of Liberia, the Stella Maris Polytechnic and other institutions like the HELOG Academy and Mercy Corps. The Liberian Government Agency, Rural and Renewable Energy Agency (RREA) were also present to grace the occasion.
The training was divided into two sections: the theoretical and the practical section. Trainees were divided into four groups of six persons per group for the practical aspect. As for the theoretical aspect, all participants were gathered in one group. The participants learned how to do load calculates and how to install and work with bigger solar power system with SMA components. At the closing of the program, GIZ/EnDev in collaboration with RREA presented the certificates of completion to the trainees for successfully finishing the training.
The system has been effective and reliable since the installation at the GIZ/EnDev Solar office.
