Meeting at PLAN Liberia office to discuss details of solar electrification in Lofa

The first containers have arrived with the material for the solar electrification of five communities in Lofa. This EU-funded project “Light Up our Future” is implemented by PLAN International and VOSIEDA, with technical support of GIZ/EnDev, and the Laos-based company Sunlabob being in charge of the installation. On May 1, 2017, the engineer from Sunlabob discussed details of logistics and implementation with PLAN Liberia and GIZ/EnDev.

Within the next days, the material will be transported to Lofa. The first community that will be connected to a solar mini-grid with Diesel backup generator is Lorma speaking Koiyama in Voinjama district. The other communities are Kissi speaking Langbamba in Foya district, Gbandi speaking Tanninahun and Nyengbelahun in Kolahun district, and Mandingo community Mamiekonedu in Quandu Gbondi. The communities have been prepared and organized a committee that will be in charge of operating the grid.
