The “Red Fire Pot” is an environmental friendly cook stove that uses 50% less coal than the traditional coal pot, cooks faster and produces less smoke. Due to design, 90 percent of the heat generated is concentrated on the base of the pot.
The Red Fire Pot was developed and introduced by GIZ/EnDev in 2012, in cooperation with Liberian institutions. Six times, Liberian metal workers or stove producers (including some female ones) were trained who are now able to produce the stove with material available in Liberia.
Since the introduction of the Red Fire Pot in 2012, over one thousand five hundred stoves have been produced to date.
