EnDev staff attending survey presentation

RREA presented the findings of a consumer and retail survey on solar lamps conducted by ADEAS. Findings revealed that the biggest buyer group were university students and married people. The biggest issues that came up were the quality and the price.

In general, people are satisfied with the quality, but they would like to have more done in the field of maintenance and repair. A further constraint, that was brought up by retailers, was the little importance that is given to remote areas.

At the closing of the meeting, various suggestions and recommendations were made to make the solar lamps products accessible and affordable for the poor inhabitants. The final report and the "way forward" strategies are expected to come out soon.
