The 18th of July 2018 marks the 100th birthday anniversary of Nelson Mandela, the first black president of South Africa.  Mandela spent 27 of his formative years in prison for engaging in the quest for equality and freedom through peaceful means.  He served as an example for the whole world to overcome injustice and hatred.

The Embassy of the Republic of South Africa on this day dedicated a solar system to light up the Great Commission Orphanage in Gardnesville.

On the 18th of July 2018 different donors came together to celebrate the improvement the installation brought to the orphanage. Amongst others, the Assistant to the Foreign Minister, Naomi Gray, MTN representatives, the Ambassador of Cameroon, his Excellency Beng'Yela Augustine Gang, and of course the initiator, the Ambassador of South Africa, his Excellency Vanapalan Punjanathan Moodley and the Charge dÁffaires of Cuba, Yordenis Despaigne Vera were present.

Guests and children were being addressed by the contributors and whereas every remark reflected different hopes and wishes, the common theme was the importance of providing for those who need it the most and acknowledging the children of Liberia being the countrys future. Everyone agreed on the responsibility of providing what we can to ease the children efforts to become the countrys future leaders and influencers.

EnDev Liberia provided the sizing of the needed panels that has been installed by Africa Electric Engineering. The installed 900 Watt system provides the facility with 33 light bulbs and small electrical appliances. Diane 11, was born in the facility, when asked about the light she said that „Now I can pray, eat and most importantly study after dark. It´s great!“.

Renewables Liberia is thanking all parties involved, who are serving as a great example of multilateral engagement to provide renewable energy.

The provision of the orphanage is not completed yet, as maintenance and repair request a separate fund. Donations are kindly requested. Renewables Energy gladly forwards further assistance in this through: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
