On May 28, 2018, the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the African Energy Commission (AFREC) conducted a one week intensive training on Energy Statistics, focusing on Energy Efficiency and data collection.

The training was conducted at the Ministry´s conference room by AFREC IT specialist Mr. Abdoulaye Oueddo. 20 participants, consisting of Ministry staff, were trained to ensure a more effective way of data collection for the Ministry of Mines and Energy. Different energy sources in Liberia, like solar, oil, electricity and mass have been discussed.

Reliable data collection is a key point to guarantee sustainable and affordable energy access througout the country. Participants were provided the nessecary background information by Mr. Oueddo, who also created a questionnaire to enable better data collection on the field. Participants of the training received a certification from AFREC.

The Ministry of Mines and Energy is planning to implement the lesson learnt in the training and is looking forward to create a more reliable energy source for the whole renewable energy sector in Liberia.
