On October 19, 2017 from 10am to 3pm the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) of America presented a Draft Mini-grid Code for Liberia to various energy stakeholders. The Rural and Renewable Energy Agency (RREA) facilitated the presentation in Monrovia.

NECRA, supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), build the capacity of RREA. In this process it has developed a Draft Mini-grid Code for Liberia. 

The document establishes technical, safety, quality of services and performance standards, etc., that will be required of applicants for electricity licenses for rural electrification. The document will be referred to the Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) for their endorsement, as soon as LERC will be established.

Representatives of various stakeholders such as companies, donors, government agencies involved with rural electrification received the draft code, listened to the presentation and engaged with critical questions and suggestions.
